Termites & Insects |
|
Termites constantly forage and evaluate the size and quality of food resources as they seek out cellulose, the primary component of wood. Termites follow tree roots and construction conduits such as pipes, concrete steps and footers to gain entry into homes. Termites can enter a home with an opening as small as 1/32”. They can be in your home for several years with very few visible signs of activity. They prefer sandy soil, however there can still be colonies in rocky soil. Termites and other WDI can cause damage to the structure in hidden areas, behind walls, in crawl spaces and basements. When considering the purchase of a new home it is highly recommended that you have the property inspected for termites, carpenter ants, powder post beetles, East Coast Home Inspections works with several contracted licensed inspectors that combined have more than 40 years experience in both identifying and treating for wood destroying insects. If termites or other WDI are present, our pest management professionals can show you what your options are to eliminate them from your home.
